The course

Risebridge is an 18-hole public course on the edge of Romford. Anyone can book a tee time and play; there's no membership to join.

Hole by hole

Hawtree, 1972

The course was laid out in 1972 by the Hawtree family of golf architects, on 156 acres of old farmland. From the white tees it plays to par 73 over 6,309 yards: five par 5s, four par 3s and nine par 4s.

Head greenkeeper Doug Mackinson and his team keep it in shape all year. They post updates and photos from the course on X as @greens_rgc.

Risebridge Golf Club, founded the same year, plays here too. It runs weekly and monthly competitions and welcomes new members all year round.
